Extension of the application of the Agreement of 19 October 2012 in Curaçao. The agreement covers the exchange of military personnel such as pilots, liaison officers and technicians, as well as the exchange of information on new technological systems. This is especially important for large-scale projects, such as the replacement of helicopters (Chinook and Apache), the purchase of unmanned aircraft (Reaper) or the exchange of information when exchanging submarines and frigates. The two countries also agreed on further cooperation on missile defense. The five-year agreement builds on and builds on the success of our previous agreement in 2005 and will facilitate the participation of U.S. military personnel in joint exercises and training activities, visits to U.S. Navy ships and other cooperative activities with the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces in Aruba, Saint-Martin, Bonaire, Saint-Eustache and Saba. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew J. Shapiro and Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Rudolf Bekink signed a new agreement between the United States and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the status of armed forces covering the Kingdom`s territories in the Caribbean at the State Department on October 19. The United States and the Netherlands are already working closely together in the field of defence. This new treaty strengthens this cooperation in these areas. The signing of the treaty coincides with Prime Minister Rutte`s meeting with President Donald Trump. Agreement on the Exchange of Notes in The Hague on 15 November 2018; entered into force on 22 April 2020. This new troop status illustrates the continued strength of the partnership between the United States and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in a region of strategic importance, promotes our common security interests, and will also bring significant benefits to the local economy. .
